Do you accept cash donations?
No. We are not a charity, we do not have a bank account we are determined to make this project work through sheer people power. No money is involved at any level of this group and we gain nothing from this project but deep satisfaction of helping someone in need.
If you wish to donate money - then please contact The Galway Simon Community or Cope Galway directly.
I cannot put a gift box together, can I donate in another way?
YES of course, instead of doing a gift-box the following would be a very helpful donation for the refuge centres.
New underwear and socks always in high demand.
Washing Powder, Washing Liquid, Jar of Coffee, Teabags, Washing-up liquid, Household cleaners, Adult Female nightwear, nappies, grocery vouchers. However please note that we do not accept cash.
Can I volunteer?
Yes we always need volunteers to print posters, sort through boxes and collect & deliver from Drop-off locations.
Do you accept blankets or duvets?
No, unfortunately we do not have the capacity to keep those things in our Drop-off points.
However blankets, duvets and sleeping bags are always in high demand in the shelters. Please contact Cope's Hostel for Homeless Men in the Fairgreen (beside the train station in Galway city).
Do you accept clothes donations?
We can only accept small and new items of clothing that will fit in your gift bag.
We cannot Second Hand clothes at any of our drop-off locations, however Galway Simon Community, Cope Galway & St. Vincent de Paul all have charity shops in Galway who would be delighted to receive those directly.
Do you accept shoes?
Yes, good condition or new walking shoes or trainers are always in high demand by the charities, so if your shoes fit in a shoe box then we will gratefully accept.
We cannot take shoes with high heels. Shoes most in demand are for a Male Adult.
Do you accept large toys?
No, our drop-off locations do not have capacity to hold anything larger than would fit in a shoebox. However the charity shops would be delighted to receive directly.
Alternatively if you wish to buy a gift for a local child in need this christmas, then please see "The Galway Giving Tree" for more information.
I would like to receive a gift-box - how can I get one?
We hand deliver gift-boxes and €5 hot food vouchers to people living on the streets whom we have become familiar with.
We do not deliver to families in emergency accommodation as we are a voluntary group and do not have the capacity to do so.
